DINNER UNDER THE HARVEST MOON
I’m a Moon Child. My zodiac sign confirms it. Cancer, Ruler: Moon.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t stay up all night howling at the Orb of Darkness. Or dance around a campfire proclaiming my allegiance to the celestial body. But I have been known to gaze in fascination. And revel in her beauty. And when the Harvest Moon rises to meet the ocean water I fall in love with the beauty of our Earth.
DINNER UNDER THE HARVEST MOON
THE SPIRIT: Open-minded, adventurous and curious. The brilliant light from the full, Harvest Moon shines in late September or early October.
THE FOOD: A couple of brown lunch bags filled with sliders - try pork, roast beef or chicken - crunchy potato chips and a sampling of veggies. Mooncakes for dessert.
THE TABLE: A quilt - and extra blankets. Scatter an assortment of candles in mason jars.
THE COCKTAIL: Veuve Cliquot (if for no other reason than moon-to-earth color coordination)
THE PLAYLIST: All the moon songs: Fly Me to the Moon, Frank Sinatra; Mr. Moonlight, The Beatles; Blue Moon, Elvis; I Don’t Know a Thing About Love, Conway Twitty; and Talking to the Moon, Bruno Mars.
THE BONUS: The first glow of the poppy-orange hue rising above the horizon is magic. In this moment, it seems there are no boundaries, no limitations - only life to open and reveal itself.
